Born from Tradition

Co-founder Bill and his family have always had a love for getting outside and appreciating nature’s playground to improve health, happiness and wellbeing. In a toast to nature and its infinite benefits, a family tradition was born of taking two brews for the trail to enjoy at the summit. And so when it came time to name Athletic’s core give-back initiative, Two For The Trails was a perfect fit.

Our Earth

Two For The Trails donates up to $2MM annually to expand outdoor access via trails and parks while improving the environment through sustainable, low-impact practices whenever possible. This includes investing in projects that replace invasive plant species with native ones, prioritizing projects that don’t use fuel-based machinery, avoiding non-biodegradable materials, and protecting endemic animals wherever possible. The program also funds projects like waterway cleanups and disaster debris removal as needed by the community. Our focus is on balancing human use with environmental care, giving priority to projects that are not just sustainable but regenerative—leaving the land better than it was found.

Our Wellbeing

At our core, we aim to make a product that lends to a well-rounded lifestyle, and what better way to celebrate wellbeing than in the great outdoors. In achieving our mission to make great-tasting non-alcoholic craft beer, we strive to have a positive impact in reducing alcohol consumption and encouraging activity, mindfulness, and time with loved ones be it on the trails, at the park or on a beach. Protecting these places through Two For The Trails is paramount for future generations to enjoy the same benefits.

Giving Our Time

We do more than donate a portion of our sales, we also donate our time to various projects across the country. We offer up to 12 paid days per year to our employees for volunteering opportunities. Frequently Asked Questions

WHEN WILL THE GRANT APPLICATION WINDOW REOPEN?

The next round of applications will be accepted starting August 15th, 2025 at 9am PDT for projects or campaigns taking place in 2026, with award decisions in early November. We hope this grant window will enable organizations to start projects early in 2026 if need be. We will accept applications until 5pm PDT on Thursday, September 4th, 2025, but we suggest submitting your application as soon as possible to avoid technical difficulties. Who can apply?

We encourage any registered non-profit organization working in trail construction and maintenance, waterway protection, environmental stewardship and other outdoor conservation to apply.

Does support from Athletic end at receiving funds?

Certainly not. We love getting our hands dirty, extra hooray if you can support Athletic teammates as volunteers for a clean-up day. We’d also love to provide our non-alcoholic beers at environmental events you may have planned.

Does my project have to be specifically for trails?

While the program is titled “Two For The Trails”, we are excited to expand further than just trails, to beaches, waterways, parks, even urban areas in need of outdoor maintenance. We strive to make the outdoors available and safe for everyone.

WHAT IS THE TYPICAL DONATION AMOUNT?

Grants have ranged from $600 - $50,000, with last round’s average award being around $5,000. Funding amounts will vary annually based on the number of applications received. Supplying a detailed budget breakdown in your application gives us an opportunity to consider partial funding awards.

I am located outside of the US, can I apply?

Yes! While priority is given to markets in which we distribute (US, Canada, UK, and the EU), we do not limit the locations of our charitable giving.

Can previous recipients apply?

Yes, and we encourage you to do so.

If I receive funding, does the project need to be completed this year?

The intention of this application window is to provide our grant recipients with funding for projects in 2026 as early as possible. Please review the Terms & Conditions that must be agreed upon to apply.
