Tyler Andrews: Mount Everest Fastest Known Time

After nearly seven years and hundreds of conversations, this is the final episode of Without Compromise. To close out the show, I’m joined by Tyler Andrews, who recently set the fastest known time on Mount Everest, reaching the summit in 9 hours, 55 minutes, 43 seconds. Tyler’s story felt like the right one to end with: years of pursuing an audacious goal, multiple failed attempts, and ultimately the willingness to change the plan without losing sight of what he was trying to accomplish.

We talk about what drives someone to keep coming back after failure, the difference between and similarities of persistence and stubbornness, and what happens when you finally achieve something you’ve spent years chasing. More broadly, this episode is a chance to reflect on what Without Compromise has been about since its first episode nearly seven years ago: the people willing to pursue difficult things, take risks, and build lives around what matters most to them. Thank you to everyone who has listened, shared an episode, joined a conversation, or supported the show over the years. It has been an incredible run, and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to tell these stories.
