10 Ways to Make Summer Unforgettable the Athletic Brewing Way

The long days of summer are almost here, and it’s the perfect time to crawl out of hibernation and start spending as much time outside as possible, soaking up the warm summer sun.

So many little things make summer so enjoyable, like driving with the windows down, warm nights by a fire pit, and celebrating town festivals. But that’s just the beginning. You can go on so many adventures this summer.

And while adventuring, you won’t want to forget to bring along some delicious beverages. May we suggest stocking the cooler with non-alcoholic beer? With our vast variety of brews, there’s sure to be a few that you can’t wait to try.

Anyway, without further ado, here are some ideas to make summer 2024 one you’ll never forget!

Spend time by the water

The best summer days are spent with friends and family - particularly while doing things you can’t do during the off-season. For example, spending time in the hot summer sun, splashing in the ocean, taking a dip in a lake, or relaxing by the pool. And this year, to make summer even more memorable - learn a new hobby that involves the water. Perhaps you take up canoeing or kayaking, water skiing, or diving. The possibilities are endless for being active while cooling off by the water. But while you’re in the hot summer sun, don’t forget to stay and pack some drinks. May we suggest stocking up the cooler with some of America’s favorite NA beers?

Find your new favorite movie

Movies can take you into someone’s world – showing you something entertaining or even potentially inspiring. This summer, take the opportunity to watch a movie you’ll never forget - whether that’s because of the movie itself or who you’re watching it with.

Remember to stream Athletic Brewing’s new documentary, Inches to Miles, which showcases people on their journey towards IRONMAN® Lake Placid 2023. This movie explores their journey to reach their goals while overcoming a variety of challenges, but they must find it in order to reach their goals. The Inches to Miles virtual premiere is June 4th, 2024 at 8PM ET, and screenings are at a select group of theaters throughout the country.

Head to a concert outdoors

Seeing some of your favorite artists on tour is fun any time of the year. But there's nothing better than seeing them live during a summer concert, where you can sing and dance along under the open sky. Even better, if the venue is stocked with non-alcoholic beer, you can have fun and be assured that you’ll have a refreshing drink without worrying about finding your way safely home afterward.

Looking for some fun concerts to go to this summer? Check out some killer artists on their upcoming tours, including Walker Hayes, Dillon Francis and Chelsea Cutler. That’s a surefire way to have an unforgettable time.

Start Training Toward a Goal

If you have a goal that you’ve always wanted to work towards but never made the time for, this summer is the perfect time for you to start. Take advantage of the warm weather to get outside and start training for a 5k or even a marathon. Maybe your dream is to compete in a bike race or even go on a bike-packing trip. Summer is the best time to get out and start working towards your goals.

Not sure what you want to start training for and need a little inspiration? Take a look at our new documentary Inches to Miles which follows three ambassadors on their road to IRONMAN® Lake Placid 2023.

Dry Tripping

Going on vacation in the summer is the perfect way to get away from the stress of everyday life and become more refreshed. But instead of a typical vacation that may include alcohol as a key part of the experience, why not try dry tripping? Dry tripping, the act of abstaining from alcohol while on vacation, is becoming more popular than ever before, and the benefits aren’t unnoticed. While partaking in dry tripping, you’re likely to save money and get more out of your vacation, as you never have to worry about nursing a hangover.

Plus, with our delicious non-alcoholic beers being more widely available than ever before, you can enjoy atmospheres like restaurants, bars, and clubs while mindfully drinking. And if you notice yourself out and about without the option to pick up an NA beer, don’t be afraid to Ask for Athletic.

Make Memories Starting a Garden

Speaking of goals - it doesn’t have to just be for an event…. Perhaps this summer is the time to start growing your own food in a garden. The good news is that it doesn’t matter if it’s a backyard plot in a yard, or simply a window box in an apartment. Having a summer garden is a relaxing project to tend to.

But the best part of this goal isn’t just nurturing something and watching it grow; it's also reaping the benefits of your hard work by adding it to your favorite dishes! Peppers, tomatoes, and onions grow well in sunny conditions and are great additions to any dish.

Get your hands dirty and let the greenery rise.

Combine an Indoor Hobby with an Outdoor One

Just because a hobby is typically done indoors, doesn’t mean it has to stay that way. Making a memorable summer means doing your favorite things as often as you can, preferably while soaking up the warm weather and sunshine. So, if you like to paint - toss some paper and a paint set in your hiking bag and head to the trails near you to find a great spot to paint in the woods. Like practicing yoga and looking for a challenge? Try doing it while on a standup paddleboard! Martial arts more your speed? Do it in the pool or in the park under the cover of some shady trees. If your main passion lies in playing an instrument, let your sound mix with nature. Whatever your indoor passion is, it shouldn’t be too hard to adapt and take it outside instead.

Yes, even for you gamers out there, you can run an extension cord outside if you can’t put down a video game. We won’t judge.

Find the Perfect Spot for Your Hammock

There are few things better than relaxing in a hammock under the shade of two big trees on a nice sunny day. Make it an adventure this summer to find the perfect quiet, secluded spot to unwind. This could be at one of the parks in your town, maybe at a beach, or even just in your backyard! Once you find the perfect spot for your hammock - it’s time for ultimate relaxation. All you need is a snack, a drink (Athletic brews, anyone?), and a book that will inevitably end up on your lap after you drift off to sleep. The lazy breeze is optional but always appreciated.

Go on a Camping Adventure

Camping is a classic summer activity. Not only are you able to get some fresh air and spend time outside, you get to enjoy barbecuing, hanging by a campfire, making some smores, and gazing at the stars (don’t forget our Rumpl blanket). Camping at a campground also makes for a great homebase as you go hiking on nearby trails or hit the lake for an afternoon by the water.

Even if you’ve never been camping before, you could have your own camping adventure and make some memories just in your backyard. You could have a set up with all the frills and conveniences, or have it be pretty barebones.

Regardless, you won’t want to forget to bring your favorite 6-pack like Atletica or Athletic Lite in your cooler!

Volunteer in your community

Longer days with more daylight means spending time outside the house and out in the community is much easier. Why not take advantage of the longer days and do something nice for the community you're in? Part of making a memorable summer could be seeing the lasting impact you’ve made - from cleaning up the trails to volunteering in a community garden or even supporting a mountain bike race. Bringing a little sunshine to others will not only make your summer memorable, it’ll leave a lasting impression on those around you.

One way to get started is by giving back to the trails on National Trails Day on June 1st. Athletic Brewing is the exclusive beer sponsor of American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day®  for 2024.

When it comes to making a memorable summer, it doesn’t take much. So get up and get out, relax, and soak up as much sunshine as possible while the weather is good. Spend time doing things you always wanted to, and most importantly, spend it doing your favorite things with the people that bring you the most joy.

And no matter where your adventures take you, remember to take non-alcoholic beer along for the ride.
